<para>Count records of European hare (Lepus europaeus occidentalis) and European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus cuniculus) collected by DOC as part of Tier 1 monitoring on public conservation land across New Zealand. Data are from counts made on up to 30 subplots on four transects per site. Both raw, subplot-level, and aggregate, site-level, data are presented. The dataset contains 12,292 occurrence records from 1,329 monitoring sites spanning November 2011 to February 2026. Line starts are permanently marked but subplots are not exactly relocated. In some seasons at some sites, not all subplots were able to be visited so indices should be relative to sampling effort.</para>

New Zealand Department of Conservation Possum Monitoring Data 2011–2026 - Version 1.2

<para>Presence of common brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) collected by DOC as part of Tier 1 monitoring on public conservation land across New Zealand. Data are from 10 devices on each of four transects per site, typically deployed for one night per season. Both raw, device-level, and aggregate, site-level, data are presented. The dataset contains 127,940 occurrence records from 1,326 monitoring sites spanning September 2011 to April 2026. Over time, surveys have used three detection devices: chewcards, leg-hold traps, and waxtags. Proportion of devices with possums present can be used to estimate relative abundance. In some seasons at some sites, not all devices were able to be deployed so indices should be relative to sampling effort.</para>

<para>Count records (and pig rooting presence / absence) from faecal pellet monitoring of six non-native mammalian taxa done by DOC as part of Tier 1 monitoring on public conservation land across New Zealand. Data were collected on up to 30 subplots on four transects per site. Both raw, subplot-level, and aggregate, site-level, data are presented. Total count and percentage of subplots with pellets present can be used to indicate animal activity. Line starts are permanently marked but subplots are not exactly relocated. In some seasons at some sites, not all subplots were able to be visited so indices should be relative to sampling effort.</para>

<para>Records of weed infestations managed by the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC) on Public Conservation Land and recorded in the DOC Weed App (which replaced Bioweb Weeds). Infestation locations are approximate, with many based on polygon data collected by DOC staff during weed control operations. This published dataset reflects work conducted between 2014 and 2026.</para>
